Established in 1983, the Kazi Farm is a family heirloom that yields delectable fruits, spices and honey. Today this heirloom, about 40 years later, is being nurtured by third-generation Kazis who have immersed themselves into practising permaculture techniques, beekeeping and sustainable agriculture, to bring alive a brand truly born from the soil – Maaticha.
Nestled in the biodiverse and ever-abundant Western Ghats, the farmland has birthed Maaticha to be a thoroughly conscious and traditional brand. Their philosophy is to tread lightly by following age-old ancestral techniques of natural farming with the help of tribals, farmers and beekeepers from the community. This conscious curation is run entirely by a family of farmers who believe that they belong to, and are one with the soil – मी मातीचा!
An evergreen inheritance
Run entirely by the Kazis from farm, to marketing, to table, these folks are heartily invested in branching out to make the most of their farm’s flourishing ecosystem. They have created a network of local farmers and tribal beekeepers, aiming to bring them under the spotlight through Maaticha’s platform.

The farm-to-table journey
Born from the humble desire to share produce with people, the farmhouse was built in 1983 by their grandfather, who planted about a hundred alphonso mango trees, coconuts & chikoo wadis, along with many more fruits & spice plants. Throughout the years, the family has grown their own black pepper and turmeric, ground their own mango powder and created various fruit preserves. In the last decade, the third generation has been determined to enhance and diversify the farmland.
They initially sold Mangoes and fresh produce from their orchard. While exploring new ways to give back to their land in 2017, they introduced vermiculture and permaculture, and serendipitously discovered a beekeeping course at the Bee Research Institute of India, Pune that was pursued by Tabish and Namra from the Kazi household.
Though 2020 seemed bleak, the Kazis used the power of social media, online paying platforms and courier services to carry out same-day mango deliveries across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane from their farm in Raigad.
The overwhelming response to 2020’s mango season gave the Kazis an impetus to rebrand and launch Maaticha for all their produce. The lockdown love they received led to the launch of their online store in December’20 that delivers PAN India.
The buzzword is beekeeping
Maaticha connects with tribal beekeepers from across India to discover pure single-origin, monofloral honey – this nectar is known for retaining particular plant and flower properties. By introducing beekeeping on the Kazi Farms, they experienced exponential growth in plant and fruit produce. Not to mention the delicious honey that is harvested in the process.
Maaticha and mindful

Conscious living for Maaticha is being mindful of the power of local produce that is grown by local farmers and tribals who earn from the farm and grow with it. They’re also moving towards completely plastic-free packaging, they currently use glass bottles for honey and corrugated sheets instead of bubble wrap. They believe these tiny everyday lifestyle choices matter the most, making them a mindful brand.
Along with everyday changes, Maaticha endeavours to continue their age-old natural farming techniques, bringing together the urban needs for farm-to-table produce. Their objective is to sell what they eat while creating a responsible and reliable global platform for small local farmers and tribal families
They are truly traditional, clean, preservative-free, and natural. To experience the Kazi Farm through an insightful lens, check out their Instagram handle where you can find farm stories, traditional preservation techniques, food recipes, wild forest foods and the like.
